Ogden, Utah September 8, 2017: Nielson Construction received an Award of Merit from the Utah Safety Council for outstanding safety performance.

In order to receive an Award of Merit, an organization must have an incident rate that is below the national average. The organization must also demonstrate improvement or sustain an excellent record.

Nielson Construction was ranked off of their three year incident report using their Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Injury Information. There were ten total recordable cases within the three year period, with five occurring in 2014, and five occurring in 2015. There were no recordable incidents in 2016. Three of the injuries in 2014 involved employee time away from work, one in 2015. The average yearly man hours worked in the three year timeframe was 476,248.

Nielson Construction also met all other Safety program requirements. The requirements included (but weren’t limited to) holding quarterly safety meetings, having and following a safety and health program with a regular review, having a written plan, performing regular inspections, providing employee safety training on all OSHA-required topics, and not sustaining any work-related fatalities during the three year time frame.
